Playing @ Royal Canberra
*Stage 2 Grass Conversion Project*
Monday 16th September 2024 to March 2025 Inclusive
The Royal Canberra Golf Club is currently undergoing a major course upgrade. Course access is limited during this project and booking restrictions are in place.
Stage 2 of our grass conversion project is due to commence on our Yarralumla 9 from early August 2024, closing 9 holes from Monday 16th September where only 18 holes will be available. Whilst the back 9 holes will remain open until 16th September, the process of spraying out bunker lips will begin 9th August 2024. Subsequently, the fairways, tees, and green surrounds will undergo the same procedure. From this date onwards, bunkers on holes 10-18 will be inaccessible and must be treated as Compulsory Ground Under Repair (GUR). However, the following steps will be taken to adequately manage tee times for Members.
Limitations to be Implemented:
- Royal Canberra Member guests will be limited to booking on social days only once timesheets have opened (8 days prior) or may be approved on the day of competition play if spots are available.
- Reciprocal Members and their Guests will be limited to booking on competition days only after the tee sheets have opened to Members (7 days prior). They may still book in advance on social days.
- Visitors will be limited to booking on social days only and may still book in advance or may be approved on the day of competition play if spots are available.
- As a courtesy to fellow Members, any Members on the waitlist will get priority before any swapping of players. Any blockers may face disciplinary action.
- When the Yarralumla 9 reopens, all Member guests, reciprocal club Member’s and visitors will be restricted to playing on the Brindabella course until approx, early April 2025.
Practice Facilities
The Club provides Members and guests with arguably the best practice facilities in Canberra. A tournament length 280m driving range, extensive short game facility with numerous target greens and two practice putting greens, which are all located adjacent to the Clubhouse area. Our new indoor training facility has two bays which can convert to either a indoor simulator experience or have the doors up for a indoor/outdoor view of the driving range.
Members and guests may use their own golf balls or Club practice balls on the putting greens. Only Club practice balls can be used on the driving range and can be purchased from the Golf Shop.
Reciprocal Club Members
Members of Reciprocal clubs may utilise the Royal Canberra Golf Club facilities subject to the relevant reciprocal agreements. A club endorsed letter of introduction verifying current playing membership, Golflink numbers and residential address must be sent to our administration office prior to booking.
